From Apprentice to Skilled Welder: Victor Pedersen Recognised Among the Top Three
At JKF, apprenticeships are not only about learning a trade. They are also about developing people, strengthening our future workforce and creating an environment where young professionals can grow. A strong example of that is Victor Pedersen, who recently completed his apprenticeship as a welder at JKF and has now continued with us as a fully qualified employee. Victor has also been nominated for Apprentice of the Year and selected among the final top three candidates.
Going the extra mile
The nomination was no coincidence.
According to Mikkel Vinter, COO, Victor has consistently contributed more than what could reasonably be expected from an apprentice.
“Victor is a role model for our other apprentices. He always puts in that extra effort and contributes to developing both our processes and our products.”
Victor has also had a positive influence on the people around him.
His commitment and approach to the job help move the entire team forward, which is one of the main reasons JKF chose to nominate him for the award.
For JKF, the nomination is an opportunity to give Victor recognition beyond the company itself.
As Mikkel explains, Victor's contribution is already highly valued internally, but his performance deserved the opportunity to receive recognition externally as well.
A new chapter at JKF
Although Victor has now finished his apprenticeship, his journey at JKF continues.
Today, he works as a qualified welder and has moved into our stainless steel activities, where he is working with, among other things, laser welding.
For Victor, being nominated is something he is proud of.
“It is great to be recognised. Just being nominated is fantastic, and being selected for the top three makes it even better.”
After spending many hours at JKF throughout his apprenticeship, Victor is also happy to continue his career here.
“I am very happy to be here. I have spent quite a few hours here – probably a few more than most – and I think things are going really well.”
Investing in the next generation
Victor's story is also closely connected to JKF's broader focus on apprentices.
Our apprenticeship programme is designed not only to attract more young people to skilled trades, but also to continuously improve the way we develop and support them during their training.
The ambition is twofold:
- to help secure the skilled workforce we will need in the future
- to make NEU-JKF Nordic an attractive place to work and develop, both during an apprenticeship and after becoming fully qualified
Victor is a great example of what that development can look like.
From apprentice to qualified welder, and now among the top three candidates for Apprentice of the Year, we are proud of what Victor has achieved.
Congratulations, Victor – and good luck!
