From the warehouse to Sales
A career can take unexpected turns. For Tobias, an opportunity to move from the warehouse into a sales traineeship opened the door to a completely new career path at NEU-JKF Nordic.
A new path at NEU-JKF Nordic
Tobias started his journey at JKF working in the warehouse. When the opportunity to become a Sales Trainee came up, he decided to take it.
Today, his working day looks very different.
As part of the sales team, Tobias works with customer emails, enquiries, quotations and orders while also supporting colleagues working directly with customers in the market.
It gives him first-hand experience with both customer relationships and the commercial side of an international industrial company.
Learning by taking responsibility
For Tobias, one of the most important parts of being a trainee is the combination of freedom and responsibility.
He is surrounded by experienced colleagues who can help when needed, but at the same time he is given the opportunity to solve tasks himself and gradually take on more responsibility.
That balance is an important part of developing professionally.
“There is a connection between freedom and responsibility. If you do your job well, there are plenty of opportunities to have influence and make your own decisions.”
Being a trainee does not mean simply watching others work.
Tobias quickly became part of the team and was trusted with real tasks alongside more experienced colleagues.
A place where you are allowed to learn
Learning also means making mistakes.
Tobias describes his department as an informal and supportive environment where there is room to ask questions, try things out and learn along the way.
Experienced colleagues are close by whenever guidance is needed, but there is also space to develop your own way of working.
For him, that creates an environment where personal and professional development go hand in hand.
Combining work and education
The Sales Trainee programme lasts two years and combines periods of practical work with school.
During the programme, trainees work towards their final qualification while applying what they learn directly in their everyday work.
NEU-JKF Nordic supports trainees throughout the process, including during periods where they work on their final assignments.
More than just work
The social side of working at NEU-JKF Nordic is also important.
Activities such as Friday gatherings, Christmas events and department activities give colleagues an opportunity to spend time together outside their everyday tasks.
For Tobias, that sense of belonging is part of what makes the traineeship work.
